Project brief

What kind of website do you need?

Most projects start with a vague idea and a lot of unasked questions. This questionnaire asks them — the kind of site, the look, the domain, the pages, the features, the budget — and turns your answers into a proper brief we can quote against.

About ten minutes. Only four things are compulsory: your name, your email, what the site is called, and what kind of site it is. Skip anything you're unsure about — "not sure yet" is a genuinely useful answer, and half our job is helping you decide.

First, who are we talking to?

So we know who to reply to, and in what capacity you're asking.

Please enter your name.
Please enter a valid email address.

What kind of website is it?

This one question shapes almost everything else — the platform, the timeline and the price. Pick the closest match; you're not locked into it.

Please tell us what the site is called — a working name is fine.
Where are you starting from?
Please choose one.
What kind of website do you need?

Most real projects are a blend — pick the one that carries the most weight, and use the features section later for the rest.

Please pick the closest match — you can change your mind later.
A number beats an adjective. This is what we design towards.

Who is it for?

A site built for everyone persuades no one. The clearer the audience, the sharper the design.

How should it look and sound?

You don't need design vocabulary here. Adjectives and examples are exactly right.

Do you have a logo?
Brand guidelines
Which of these feel right?

Tick as many as you like. Contradictions are fine — they tell us where the tension is.

Imagery

The address it lives at

Domains and hosting are the two things that quietly go wrong years later, so it's worth being precise now.

A wish is fine — we'll check what's actually available.
Do you own that domain?
Hosting
Email on the domain
Who looks after it after launch?

Pages, words and pictures

Content is what delays website projects — almost never the code. Being honest here is genuinely in your interest.

Which pages do you need?
Who writes the words?
How ready is the content?
Moving content from an existing site?

What must it actually do?

Tick everything that sounds useful. We'll tell you honestly which ones earn their keep in phase one and which are better left for later.

Behind the scenes

If you'll be taking payments, any preference?

Skip this if you're not selling anything.

The practical bits

Who edits it, what it has to obey, and what it has to talk to.

Will you want to update the site yourself?
Honestly? "No preference" usually gets you a better result.
Any compliance requirements?

Budget and timing

A range is enough. Telling us early is not a weak negotiating position — it's how you avoid being quoted for a website you never wanted.

How firm is that date?
Knowing this up front is the single best predictor of a project running to time.

Your brief

Everything you've told us, in one place. Read it back, fix anything that looks wrong, then send it over.

Nothing here is a commitment. We'll reply with what we'd build, roughly what it would cost, and how long it would take — and we'll say so plainly if we think you don't need us.

Not ready for all that?

A two-line email is a perfectly good place to start. We'll ask the rest of these questions ourselves, over a call.
